update on the conversation I kept avoiding

A few weeks ago I posted about not being able to talk to my eldest properly, just this fog between us where I could not find the right words and she seemed to be waiting for something I was not giving. I did not fix it exactly. We had a long drive together last weekend and somewhere around the motorway services it just loosened a bit. She talked, I listened more than I spoke, which is not my natural state. I think the thing I had been doing was trying to explain myself before she had finished saying anything. I am not sure where that habit came from or whether it is new. Possibly not new. The drive helped because there was no eye contact and nowhere to go. I have been thinking about that since, how much easier things are when you are both facing the same direction.

Just popping back to say thank you, especially Tina. I read all of these with a cup of tea and had a little cry, in a good way. This community is such a relief sometimes.
