I bought a TENS machine after my pain consultant mentioned it. I was sceptical but I use it during flares at work when I can't just lie with a hot water bottle. It doesn't eliminate the pain but it distracts from it and takes the sharp edge off the cramping. For about twenty quid it's been one of the better investments I've made. I keep one in my desk drawer and one at home.

My GP finally referred me to a specialist pelvic floor physio after I pushed for it. It took about 6 weeks before I really started to feel a difference, but the release work and the internal massage she does has made a real difference to my daily discomfort. It's expensive privately but it's been one of the most effective things for my quality of life.

A systematic review of hormonal suppression strategies for endometriosis-associated pain compared continuous combined oral contraceptives, progestins, the levonorgestrel IUS, and GnRH agonists. All demonstrated significant pain reduction compared to placebo at six months. The levonorgestrel IUS and continuous combined pill showed the most favourable side-effect profiles for long-term use. GnRH agonists provided the greatest absolute pain reduction but were limited by menopausal side effects and bone density concerns. No hormonal approach showed superiority for preventing recurrence after surgery.
