What women describe

Weight settling differently, particularly around the middle, without an obvious change in how they are eating or moving.

Several things overlap here: muscle mass declines gradually with age unless it is actively maintained, activity often falls in these decades, sleep is frequently worse, and hormonal changes affect where fat is stored.

What tends to be more useful than eating less

Resistance training, because muscle is the thing most worth protecting and it is what usually goes first.

Enough protein to support that muscle.

Sleep, which affects appetite regulation more than most people expect.

A note on how this is usually talked about

This is the subject women in midlife are sold the most and helped the least. Narrated is not going to give you a plan or a target.

If your weight is changing in a way that concerns you, that is a conversation for a clinician, not an internet program.

The years around menopause are when bone and heart risk shift most. Understanding them early is what makes them manageable.

General information, not medical advice. Narrated never diagnoses.
