50 next month and I have genuinely lost count of the supplements I've bought in the last two years. I found a carrier bag under the sink last week with four half-empty bottles I'd completely forgotten about. Magnesium, some ashwagandha thing, a collagen powder that tasted of sadness. Must have spent close to £80 on that lot and I couldn't even tell you if any of it did anything because I was taking them all at once and eating badly and not sleeping and how would I ever know what was helping? So I've stopped the lot. Bit dramatic maybe but I needed a reset. I'm just doing magnesium at the moment, been about three weeks, and I'm actually writing down when I sleep badly versus when I don't. Nothing fancy, just a note in my phone. I also started being more deliberate about protein at breakfast because I read somewhere (not Instagram, an actual article) that it helps with the 3pm wall. Eggs or Greek yoghurt most mornings. That part costs nothing extra really. The other thing I'm doing, which feels a bit tedious but useful, is keeping a running list of everything I've tried or am trying so that when I eventually get back to my GP I can show her rather than just saying "I've been taking some stuff". She's good but she's busy and I want the appointment to actually mean something. Anyone else gone back to basics after a supplement splurge? Would genuinely like to know I'm not the only one who had a carrier bag of shame under the sink 😂
