My youngest has decided he's basically carnivore now, my husband wants pasta three times a week, and I'm sat here googling 'how to get more protein without cooking four separate meals'. 52 and I feel like the family food referee. I've been noticing my energy just drops off a cliff around 3pm. Not tired exactly, more like someone unplugged me. I mentioned it to my GP but she sort of... moved on. I'm going to write down when it happens before my next appointment because I want to actually show her a pattern rather than just saying 'I feel rubbish sometimes'. What I've been doing, quietly, without announcing it as a Thing: I started having eggs or Greek yoghurt at breakfast instead of just toast. Nothing dramatic. And honestly the afternoons feel slightly less grim? Maybe. Could be coincidence. I'm not ready to claim anything. For dinners I've been sneaking more protein into things we'd eat anyway. Chilli with extra mince and kidney beans. Chicken thighs instead of breast because they're cheaper and the kids actually eat them. Lentils in the bolognese (the husband doesn't know, he has no idea, this is fine). I'm not on a diet. I'm really not. I just want to not feel like I'm running on fumes by Wednesday. Anyone else doing this kind of quiet tinkering rather than a whole overhaul? x
