D-Chiro-Inositol
Also known as: DCI, D-chiro-inositol supplement
A stereoisomer of inositol often used alongside myo-inositol for PCOS management. Plays a distinct role in insulin signalling, particularly in non-ovarian tissues. Typically combined with myo-inositol in a 40:1 ratio. Excessive D-chiro-inositol alone may impair oocyte quality.

How does D-Chiro-Inositol work?
Mediates insulin action in peripheral tissues (muscle, liver, adipose) via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol second messenger system. Supports glycogen synthesis and glucose disposal. In the ovary, elevated D-chiro-inositol may impair aromatase activity, so it is used in balance with myo-inositol rather than alone at high doses.
