Wind down

The one off bedroom audit

Check temperature, light, and noise in your bedroom, once, properly

15 min

How to do it

  1. 1Check the room temperature
  2. 2Check for light leaking in
  3. 3Check for noise you've tuned out
  4. 4Fix or note each one

One evening, walk your bedroom like a stranger would. Is it cool enough. Is there light leaking in that shouldn't be there. Is there a noise you've stopped noticing. Fix what you can tonight, and note what needs a proper change.

What the evidence says

Sleep hygiene measures like temperature, light, and noise control have a smaller evidence base on their own than CBT for insomnia, but they're still part of every major sleep guideline as a baseline. Night sweats make heat regulation matter more through menopause, so a cooler room is one of the few low effort things worth checking once properly.
