In the moment

A cold splash to the face

Cold water on the face for ten seconds, nothing more elaborate

2 min

How to do it

Run the tap cold, or fill a bowl, and hold a cold, wet flannel against your face for about ten seconds, or splash cold water directly. That's the whole practice.

What the evidence says

Cold water on the face triggers the dive reflex, a genuine body response that slows the heart rate within seconds, well documented outside menopause research. It's a real, fast body response, not a menopause specific fix, so treat it as a quick reset rather than anything that changes hormones or symptoms.
