In the moment

Walk it out when you're furious

When anger spikes, walk fast for ten minutes instead of sitting with it

10 min

How to do it

When something has properly wound you up, don't sit with it at your desk. Get outside or into another room and walk fast for ten minutes. Let your arms swing. Don't try to think it through yet.

What the evidence says

Anger and irritability rise for many women through the menopause transition alongside broader mood symptoms, and moderate exercise is well established in general research for burning off the physical charge that anger creates in your body. It changes how the anger feels in your body, not what caused it.
