30-Minute Aqua Aerobics Session

Aqua exercise is a genuinely useful workout that many women find uniquely accessible — the water supports the body while the resistance challenges it.

30 min · Kit: Swimming pool, Optional: aqua dumbbells, pool noodle

The session

  1. 15 min: Easy water walking and jogging
  2. 25 min: Jumping jacks in water — full range
  3. 35 min: Water push-pull with hands — sweep water side to side
  4. 45 min: Pool noodle core work — sit on noodle, balance, flutter feet
  5. 55 min: Water jogging backwards and forwards
  6. 65 min: Cool-down slow movement and water stretches

Worth knowing

  • Water provides resistance in all directions — this is genuinely valuable for muscle work
  • Impact is dramatically reduced in water (approximately 80% less than on land) while resistance is comparable
  • Water temperature matters for comfort — heated pools (30–32°C) are ideal for mobility
  • Aqua dumbbells dramatically increase resistance — start without them to gauge effort
