10-Minute Hip Flexor Release
Regular hip flexor work is one of the most common guidance for women who notice lower back stiffness or tightness at the front of the hip.
10 min · Kit: Yoga mat
The session
- 12 min: Low lunge each side — back knee down, weight forward, breathe into the front of the hip
- 22 min: Kneeling lunge with torso rotation — same lunge position, rotate upper body toward front leg
- 32 min: Supine hip flexor stretch — lie on back at edge of mat, drop one leg toward floor while hugging other knee
- 42 min: Figure-four stretch — hip external rotation release
- 52 min: Prone quad stretch — lie on front, hold ankle toward glute; 1 min each side
Worth knowing
- Hip flexors attach from the lumbar spine to the femur — tight hip flexors can contribute to lower back compression
- The breath is the release — long slow exhales during each stretch allow the muscle to let go
- These stretches are particularly valuable after long drives, flights, or desk days
- Consistency over intensity: gentle daily stretching outperforms one aggressive weekly session
