Also known as: DCI, D-chiro-inositol supplement
A stereoisomer of inositol often used alongside myo-inositol for PCOS management. Plays a distinct role in insulin signalling, particularly in non-ovarian tissues. Typically combined with myo-inositol in a 40:1 ratio. Excessive D-chiro-inositol alone may impair oocyte quality.

Disappointing experience with D-Chiro-Inositol. My weight creeping up despite eating well didn't improve and I had headaches throughout. I've stopped taking it.
D-Chiro-Inositol helped somewhat with my metabolism slowdown — energy improved, though the hot flashes continued. Worth trying but manage your expectations.
D-Chiro-Inositol has been surprisingly effective for my metabolic changes. I noticed there was a noticeable difference fairly quickly. the symptoms were about 70% better over the following weeks. I'd recommend discussing it with your GP.
I tried D-Chiro-Inositol for unexplained weight gain but the results were mixed. I noticed a subtle improvement, but it didn't hold up long-term. It might work for others but was modest for me.
D-Chiro-Inositol wasn't for me. After 8 weeks of trying, my metabolism slowdown were much the same. Disappointing but at least I know now.
Research context compiled from published sources
Mediates insulin action in peripheral tissues (muscle, liver, adipose) via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol second messenger system. Supports glycogen synthesis and glucose disposal. In the ovary, elevated D-chiro-inositol may impair aromatase activity, so it is used in balance with myo-inositol rather than alone at high doses.
