Practice
A body scan for a racing mind
Ten quiet minutes that give a busy head something undemanding to hold onto.

How it goes
Lying on your back, let your attention rest on your feet. Not judging anything, just noticing what is there.
Move slowly upward through ankles, calves, knees and hips, spending a few breaths at each.
When you notice you have drifted into thinking, that is the practice working, not failing. Return to wherever you left off.
Continue to the top of your head, then let the attention spread out and go.
If it does not send you to sleep
It is not meant to. It is a way of resting that does not require sleep, which takes some of the pressure off the night.
Some women find it works better sitting up in the evening than lying down at 3am. Both are fine.
Sleep is where memory consolidates and mood resets. It compounds further than almost anything else here.
