When to ask

When sleep is worth taking to your doctor

The signs that suggest this needs a person rather than a self-help list.

Worth booking an appointment

Poor sleep most nights for a month or more, despite changes to routine.

Sleepiness that affects driving, work, or looking after other people.

Loud snoring, gasping, or pauses in breathing that someone else has noticed. This needs assessment in its own right.

Night sweats that regularly soak nightclothes or bedding.

Low mood or anxiety alongside the sleep problem.

What helps the appointment

Two weeks of simple notes: what time you went to bed, roughly how the night went, how you felt the next day.

Your check-in history in You can do most of this for you. Doctor Prep turns it into a summary without interpreting it.
