5 self-reported experiences with Vitamin D3 for mood, anxiety & hormones
Tried
Vitamin D3 has been surprisingly effective for my tearfulness and overwhelm. I noticed my mood stabilised fairly quickly. I felt like I had my life back over the following weeks. Still taking it and plan to continue.

Vitamin D3 wasn't for me. After 8 weeks of trying, my anxiety that came out of nowhere were much the same. Disappointing but at least I know now.

Living in northern England means I was probably vitamin D deficient for most of the year. When tested my level was 22 nmol/L — severely low. After three months of supplementation my level came up to 80 and the persistent low-grade depression that I'd attributed entirely to perimenopause improved noticeably. My GP said vitamin D deficiency is extremely common in UK women over forty and worth testing before assuming all mood symptoms are hormonal.

Testing showed I was severely vitamin D deficient, which was certainly contributing to my low mood. Correcting this improved my mood noticeably over three months — the chronic low-grade depression lightened. I'd recommend vitamin D testing as a first step for anyone experiencing mood changes in perimenopause.
