Ten minutes of something with no point

Do ten minutes of a hobby you're not trying to get better at or finish

10 min

How to do it

Pick something you do purely because you like it, drawing, an instrument, a puzzle, gardening, and give it ten minutes with no goal attached. Not practicing, not finishing, just doing it.

What the evidence says

Activities done for their own sake, without an outcome or performance goal, are linked in behavioral activation and general wellbeing research to lower stress than the same activity done with a target attached. The value here is specifically in the lack of a point, which is why it counts even on a busy day.
