20-Minute Pilates with Small Ball

A small ball in Pilates is a surprisingly useful feedback tool — it teaches body awareness that transfers into all movement.

20 min · Kit: Small inflated Pilates ball (20–25 cm)

The session

  1. 12 min: Seated on ball — find balance; small pelvic tilts
  2. 23 min: Bridge with ball between knees — squeeze ball; 3×12
  3. 33 min: Ball between inner thighs supine — crunch with inner thigh squeeze; 3×10
  4. 43 min: Ball press-down on thighs — lying, knees bent; press hands into ball on thighs; core resists; 3×10
  5. 53 min: Side-lying ball squeeze between ankles — 3×15 each side
  6. 63 min: Seated rotation holding ball — rotate and reach; 3×10 each
  7. 73 min: Cool-down — cat-cow with ball under belly (on all fours, gently)

Worth knowing

  • The small ball provides tactile feedback that helps many women find their inner thighs and deep core more precisely
  • Ball pressure could be constant not pulsed — sustained engagement
  • This style of Pilates targets adductors and pelvic floor as much as the central core
  • Available at most sports retailers for a modest cost
