Also known as: Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, probiotic supplement, gut health supplement
Live microorganisms intended to confer a health benefit. Different strains have different evidence profiles. Relevant to hormonal health via the gut-hormone axis (oestrobolome), with the gut microbiome playing a role in oestrogen metabolism, immune regulation, mood (gut-brain axis), and metabolic health.

16 reports from women who tried Probiotics
Probiotics wasn't for me. After 10 weeks of trying, my skin dryness and itching were much the same. Back to square one unfortunately.
I really wanted Probiotics to help with my hair shedding and scalp issues but after 12 weeks I saw no meaningful improvement. the symptoms persisted despite consistent use. Back to square one unfortunately.
Probiotics helped somewhat with my collagen loss and wrinkles — hot flashes reduced a bit, though the weight didn't shift. Not a miracle but not nothing either.
I was sceptical about Probiotics but desperate with my skin dryness and itching. Slow start honestly. By week 6, my energy levels were back to normal. Very happy with the results so far.
After 8 weeks on Probiotics, I'd say it made a modest difference to my dry and ageing skin. Some symptoms improved while others stayed the same. Might try something different.
Research context compiled from published sources
Specific probiotic strains colonise the gut, competing with pathogenic bacteria and producing short-chain fatty acids (butyrate, propionate, acetate). The oestrobolome (gut bacteria with beta-glucuronidase activity) influences circulating oestrogen levels by deconjugating oestrogen metabolites for reabsorption. Gut bacteria also produce neurotransmitter precursors (GABA, serotonin) and modulate systemic inflammation.
