13 self-reported experiences with Estradiol Gel for mood, anxiety & hormones
Tried
I tried Estradiol Gel for hormonal mood swings but the results were mixed. I noticed a subtle improvement, but the side effects made it hard to continue. Might try something different.

Tried
My women's health nurse suggested Estradiol Gel for my emotional volatility. It took about 4 weeks to notice anything, but by week 12 I was sleeping through the night. Worth persevering through the first few weeks.

Tried
Started Estradiol Gel alongside tearfulness and overwhelm management. Week 3: the frequency of symptoms reduced. Week 6: the symptoms were about 70% better. I'm glad I tried it.

The combination of HRT with daily meditation has been my most effective mood management approach. HRT addressed the hormonal foundation — stabilising the wild mood swings and lifting the depression. The Calm app meditation practice adds a daily emotional reset that helps me respond rather than react. Neither alone was sufficient but together they've given me back emotional stability. I also find the sleep stories helpful for the nights when anxiety creeps in despite the progesterone.

HRT improved my mood but not as dramatically as I'd hoped. I went from feeling dreadful to feeling okay — but I was expecting to feel great based on the stories I'd read online. My specialist says that mood is multifactorial and HRT addresses the hormonal component but not necessarily the situational factors — work stress, relationship strain, the weight of caring for ageing parents whilst managing teenagers. I've since added CBT and regular exercise and the combination is getting me closer to where I want to be emotionally.
